My Grade 6 teacher provided me with a letter of recommendation, recognizing my potential as a candidate for the Legislative Page Program.
Dear Legislative Assembly of Ontario,
It is my great pleasure to recommend Tanisha for the Legislative Page Program. As her Grade 6 teacher, I have had the opportunity to observe her growth throughout the school year—academically, socially, and in her development of learning skills that are essential for success in any high-responsibility role. Tanisha is a poised, thoughtful, and principled student whose quiet leadership, self-awareness, and emerging confidence would make her an excellent Page.
While Tanisha’s Learning Skills report includes areas identified for growth, these should not be interpreted as limitations. Rather, they reflect my commitment to helping students take ownership of their learning by setting meaningful, developmentally appropriate goals. In Tanisha’s case, those goals centred around time management and sustained independence. Throughout the term, she responded with maturity and purpose. She began using a planner to manage assignments more effectively and became noticeably more intentional in her approach to tasks—planning ahead, refining her focus, and completing work with greater efficiency and depth.
Tanisha consistently demonstrates the values of the Page Program in her daily conduct. She is a responsible, respectful, and composed student who follows all classroom routines with care. Her strong sense of integrity and fairness makes her a dependable leader among her peers. Tanisha listens deeply, collaborates inclusively, and helps others feel heard and respected in group settings. She leads not by volume, but by presence—offering support, organizing tasks, and helping her group stay calm and focused under pressure.
She also possesses the kind of resilience and adaptability that are essential for a program as unique as this one. When faced with constructive criticism, she responds with thoughtfulness and a desire to grow. Her ability to reflect on feedback and turn it into action is a mark of her maturity and determination. As she wrote in her own self-reflection, she has made a concerted effort to “think things through before doing them,” and her work has become more detailed and focused as a result.
Tanisha is also developing the courage to take risks and advocate for herself—something she has recognized as a personal challenge and has actively worked to improve. In classroom discussions, she is beginning to contribute more frequently and to push past discomfort in order to share her ideas. This willingness to grow, even when it requires vulnerability, is one of her most admirable traits.
She is, in short, the kind of student who rises to responsibility, treats others with dignity, and strives for excellence even when it’s hard. I can think of no better candidate to represent her peers and her province as a Legislative Page.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you require any further insight. Tanisha has my highest recommendation.
Best,
